Content Partner: Musée de la civilisation

Musée de la civilisation, a museum known for its bold and innovative programming, is an Old Québec mainstay located right on the St. Lawrence River, steps from the historic Petit-Champlain district. Starting this summer (and running through March 2019), Musée de la civilisation presents London Calling, an immersive exhibition that will transport you to London—without ever leaving North America—to experience the iconic neighbourhoods and culture of Britain’s most famous city. And with the Museum’s bell tower transformed into Big Ben for the occasion, you can’t miss it! Read on for 6 reasons why you won’t want to miss this blockbuster exhibition in Québec City.

1 Cross the Pond Without Cramming into a Plane

London Calling lets you experience the British capital for way less than the cost of a trans-Atlantic flight. Explore its many neighbourhoods, including Chelsea (the birthplace of the miniskirt and punk movement) and Soho, a veritable hotbed of excess and eccentricity. Then get your Beatlemania fix as you stroll down the legendary zebra crossing on Abbey Road before exploring London’s East End. You can also visit three sites inextricably linked to London’s buzzing art scene: Whitechapel Gallery, Southbank Centre, and the Royal Academy of Arts. See iconic objects such as a 1967 taxi; clothing by designers Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith, and Alexander McQueen; prints by John Lennon as well as one of his stage outfits; works of art by father of pop art Richard Hamilton and abstract pioneer Ben Nicholson; and lots more!

2 Get the Full Immersive Experience with Augmented Reality

With the new My MCQ app, you can get the full “augmented” experience with additional information on the exhibition. The app uses augmented reality technology to bring various objects—such as the Sex Pistols undershirt, works by John Lennon, and the photo of Twiggy—to life before your eyes. Virtual surprises around every corner…

3 Learn More Through Themed Tours
